Meng-qin’s Vietnamese Delicacy
Meng-qin (夢琴) opened a small Vietnamese café in Chiayi’s Minsyong Township three years ago. Although business is good, the customers like the food, and the job is very rewarding to her, the work is tough and she often works alone from 6:30 am until midnight, sometimes without even having the time to eat.
Just like Meng-qin, the citizen journalist who filmed this report, Ruan Jin-hong (阮金紅), is also a Vietnamese woman that got married to a Taiwanese man. Ruan Jin-hong hopes that the report will give Taiwanese people an insight into the struggle and exertion that lies behind the delicious Vietnamese cuisine. So next time you eat out, please don't forget to extend a smile or give some encouragement to the workers in such cafés.
