Dong Hwa Bunun Students Wear Traditional Dress In Hope of Gaining Tribe Members Approval

This years Bunun Tribe’s “Malahtangia” festival  to mark the closing of the hunting season was held at Tau-Yuan Junior High School in Taitung County where Bunun Tribe members from all over Taiwan came together for, wrestling, pig catching and many other ceremonies to help pass on the Bununs’ traditional heritage, customs and culture, as well as share in the happy seasonal festivals.  Young Bunun tribeswoman Wang Ji-yao made an appeal to all members of the Bunun tribe to take action to support the tribe’s traditional culture by wearing their traditional tribal dress more often, not just for ceremonies and celebrations, but also in day-to-day living.

今年的布農族射耳祭在台東縣延平鄉桃源國中舉行，來自全台各部落的布農族人在此相會，進行摔角、抓豬比賽等儀式，傳承布農傳統文化，也分享對於歲時祭儀的 喜悅。不過現場也有年輕的布農族學子王紀瑤等人發出呼籲，希望族人可以多穿戴傳統服飾，不只是有慶典才穿，平常也可穿族服，以展現對文化的認同，用行動來 支持傳統文化。
