Magnificent scenery and towering ancient trees are what make Alishan in Chiayi one of Taiwan’s most celebrated tourist spots, but this year has seen an exceptionally large number of tourists from Mainland China. Unfortunately, many of these tourists have no respect for the area, and are now beginning to push the limits of acceptability. One of the main problems is trash, as many of these ‘substandard’ tourists have no sense of respect or public decency and simply discard their wrappers, cans and bottles after finishing their meals. In addition, even though many of the roads are still being rebuilt after the Typhoon Morakot, large numbers of tourists and tour buses pack the narrow mountain roads making the roads extremely dangerous. The excessive amounts of vehicles in the area has not only given rise to safety issues, but has also been directly responsible for large amounts of CO2, which has already begun to affect the quality of Alishan tea. In these breathtaking mountains tourists rush around frantically in order to get some good shots for their photo album, but this wave of tourists has created damage and a lot of problems that have as yet to be resolved.

壯麗的風景，高聳入天的神木，美麗的景觀讓嘉義阿里山成為台灣著名觀光景點，近年也吸引許多大陸遊客前來參觀，不過太多觀光客，旅遊品質受到限制，也對阿
里山生態環境造成影響，首先是垃圾問題，許多遊客沒有發揮公德心，在觀光景點留下吃喝過後的垃圾，造成生態問題；另外，八八水災之後，阿里山公路許多路段
還在進行重建工程，但是遊客與大型遊覽車已經大量進出，在狹窄的公路上險象環生。而過多車輛除了造成安全問題，排放的二氧化碳，也已經影響到阿里山茶的品
質。遊客來去匆匆，在美麗的阿里山拍照留念，但是過多的觀光潮對阿里山的整體環境造成傷害，也留下許多問題有待解決。
