Rooting for Citizen Journalism – An interview with Sanying Community College principal Huang Rong-hu
The PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform encourages citizen journalists to record distinguishing characteristics from their local areas. Recently, there have been several reports on PeoPo about the culture of Sanxia Tea Village. It turns out that there is a depth of culture and history regarding the origins of tea in Sanxia, a suburb of Taipei; however, it seems that the majority of Taiwanese people are only familiar with Sanxia Old Street.
In fact, there has never been a shortage of local issues or people who care about such issues. The key thing is how to ignite the seeds of citizen journalism in the hearts and minds of people. Only by teaching people how to report on the stories that matter to them and how to upload these stories can they share them with people far and wide. As long as the principal of Sanying Community College remains, we can expect a lot of vitality in this place in the future.
