The preservation and revitalization of old Japanese buildings in Nantou
The teachers’ dormitory in Nantou High School was built during Japan’s occupation of Taiwan and holds many memories for locals. The building is located in the center of Nantou with parking spaces and parks nearby. From the perspective of overall regional development, connecting the neighboring areas of Nantou Country Culture Park, NCCP (南投郡武德殿) and the century-old Lantian Academy of Classical Learning(藍田書院) deserves proper local planning.
It is hoped that the government will work to preserve cultural assets and regenerate the area through the transformation of local sites. By promoting NGO participation and the presence of arts and cultural groups, we can revitalize such spaces with cultural and social elements to reenergize the local neighborhood. At the same time, this will help to build a consensus in the community to make the preservation of cultural assets a local feature of Nantou.
