Ecological pond guardians fear alien species release
The ecological pond in Taipei’s Xinglong Park is now complete – now the task begins to maintain it! To this end, a team of volunteers has been established and given free training courses to increase their ecological knowledge; hopefully, this will ensure they are up to the challenging job of maintaining the pond. In addition to expert instruction, volunteers from Cui Lake in Muzha District also came to pass on their valuable experience and speed up the learning process.
Photography enthusiasts have arrived in their droves to take advantage of the newly completed ecological pool. One essential job of the volunteer maintenance team is to help residents understand the pond's flora and fauna and stress the importance of avoiding the release of alien species, which would disturb the pond’s delicate ecological balance.
