“Guide dog foster families” are the first stage in training guide dogs. The Guide Dog Association chooses foster families for young dogs of 2-4 months old. Unlike looking after pets, foster families must invest lots of time and energy to ensure the dog understands commands and adapts to society.

Although guide dogs only remain in foster families for a short time, both sides benefit, with dogs receiving first-rate care and foster families gaining valuable experience.
