The win-win senior-student co-living program
At Yang Ming Seniors Apartment, students have fun and dance to their heart’s content, creating a lively atmosphere for resident seniors. This senior-student co-living program is a collaboration between Yang Ming Seniors Apartment and the nearby Culture University. Students give twenty hours of their time per month in exchange for low-priced accommodation at an apartment complex for the elderly. Co-living is a rewarding arrangement for both old and young, injecting fun into the lives of elderly residents and providing unrivaled low rents for students.
At welcome events for the co-living program, seniors and students get to know each other through various games like scavenger hunts, where seniors are reminded that one is never too old to learn. As part of the students’ twenty hours of service to the community, they lead seniors in singing and dancing to brighten up what would otherwise be a monotonous daily routine. It’s also a chance for youngsters to broaden their horizons by hearing about the fascinating life experiences and stories of elderly residents.
