Yilan’s E-Wang Community Your Shoot shines light on stunning street art
Located on the east bank of the Yilan River, the village of E-Wang was once a key commercial center on the water transport route and also home to a vast array of traditional crafts; however, along with the changing times and the decline of water transport, the traditional industries gradually faded too.
After being appointed as E-Wang’s new community warden, Mr. Lin began to clean up the community. Seeing a gradual loss of traditional culture and crafts, Warden Lin enlisted the help of locals and traditional artisans to revamp the area. The highlight of their work so far is the magnificent Guang-da Lane - literally, Lane of Light - which runs through the community. The lane showcases traditional skills and traces the culture of traditional crafts in E-Wang, preserving memories from the old days.
In this latest Your Shoot event, PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform teamed up with E-Wang Community Development Association, leading CJs through the lanes to hear stories of E-Wang’s rich cultural history. The community of E-wang is eager to not only pass on the area’s rich culture of traditional crafts but also revive and promote it.
