PeoPo’s Liugui Your Shoot - Visiting the magnificent forest
During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, Liugui Forestry Research Institute was affiliated with Kyoto University. The Japanese government took a liking to the abundant forest resources in the mountains of Liugui and developed a 100-year-old experimental site for the camphor industry in the area.
In addition to Liugui Forestry Research Institute, which works hard at protecting the precious mountain forests of Liugui, Dodo Wetland School brought together a group of community volunteers following the typhoon Morakot disaster and has spent nine years rebuilding the wetland environment in the hope of restoring the rich ecology of Liugui. For this latest Your Shoot event, PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform teamed up with Liugui Forestry Research Institute and Dodo Wetland School to lead citizen journalists into the forest and acquaint them with the rich ecology of Liugui.
