Kids provide companionship to old people living alone
In recent years, the declining birthrate issue in Taiwan has become increasingly serious and children now have fewer opportunities to interact with the elderly. To address the resulting generational alienation, kindergartens in Chiayi’s Meishan Township have organized fun activities aimed at teaching children about respect for the elderly, gratitude, and caring for the society.
Social welfare organizations in Chiayi cooperated with kindergartens and invited seniors living alone in Meishan to a reunion dinner in celebration of Chinese New Year. The kids not only performed an upbeat and hilarious talent show but also conducted a traditional tea-serving ceremony before sharing a reunion hot-pot meal. This heartwarming activity was a beautiful way to teach children about caring for their elders and touched the hearts of all those who participated in the event.
