Discussing education through animation
“The screen era” has arrived. Children’s learning has moved from paper to electronic devices and picture books to animation. At present, however, Taiwan’s animation industry has yet to fully mature, so 90% of educational “children’s animations” are imported from abroad. What's more, TV channels tend to buy popular animations from overseas to increase audience ratings.
It's true that this wave of internationalization provides children access to a wide variety of animations, but with so many different stories and styles to choose from, prior screening by parents is imperative.
Hopefully, once children learn to create their own animations by using technology as a tool to express emotions, and creators begin to talk to children and observe the world from their perspective, we will see far more original Taiwanese works and the beginning of a bright future for Taiwan’s animation industry.
