Sending love to rural districts-“Toy Bank” transports seniors back to their youth

The mention of toys and games usually brings kids to mind; rarely does it conjure up images of senior citizens. However, Taiwan Toy Library Association’s Toy Bank is paying out a rich dividend of joy and fun through its toy delivery initiative, which gets senior citizens actively involved in playing games.

After short demonstrations from friendly volunteers, elderly participants can be seen having a whale of a time playing games and triumphantly showing off their results to everyone on completion of various block-building games, giving themselves a big thumbs up! Teacher Lu-lu (嚕嚕), a long-time volunteer at Toy Bank, said the most rewarding thing about engaging seniors to play games is seeing them brimming with health and becoming actively involved in life again.

提起玩具，說到遊戲，一般人總是聯想到小孩；很少人會去聯想到老人，可是有一個公益團體，他們不僅帶玩具給老人玩，還帶領老人玩遊戲，為老人製造歡樂，他們就是隸屬於「台灣玩具圖書館協會」的「玩具銀行」。

在服務人員親切的示範下，這些阿公阿嬤很快就玩得津津有味，樂在其中。許多位完成積木組合的阿公阿嬤，高興的向眾人展示他們的成果，還比出大拇指，為自己按個讚！服務於玩具銀行多年的嚕嚕老師表示，帶領老人家玩遊戲最大的成就感就是看到她們都很健康，而且越來越有參與感。
