In the past few years, large numbers of bees have disappeared or died without cause, leading to a drastic reduction in agricultural output. In 2014, PTS made Toxic Bees Nature's Mayday, a documentary exploring this alarming phenomenon. In Taiwan, the invisible killer causing this disappearance of bees is a type of pesticide, which at higher doses results in the instant death of bees on contact.

In order to increase the chance of keeping honeybees alive, urban beekeeping is gradually emerging, with more than 1,000 people now participating in cities across the country. Community colleges have also begun to offer classes on keeping bees in available spaces at home. The human race is unable to survive without nature, so the growth of urban beekeeping is a step closer to finding a peaceful coexistence between man and nature.
