Retro parade defies wind and rain – arts festival revives good old days
Launched in 2015, Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts hits the streets of Taipei’s Dadaocheng area each October with a series of arts activities, injecting new vitality into the area through cross-cultural, cross-era performances. This year's activity boasted a 1920’s fashion parade, in which people could be seen walking the streets of Dihua Street wearing body-hugging Chinese-style cheongsams, overalls and other retro dress, just like back to the 1920s.
Although the festival is only in its 3rd year, gradual change has been witnessed in Dadaocheng. Today, in addition to traditional businesses, the presence of creative industries is beginning to be felt in the area. With a rich abundance of business opportunities and diverse events taking place, people are getting reacquainted with Dadaocheng’s vibrant cultural history.
