PeoPo Establish Citizen Journalism Self-regulatory Commission 

On the eve of its 10th anniversary, PeoPo has invited an eclectic mix of professionals to set up ‘PeoPo Citizen Journalism Self-regulatory Committee’, which held its first meeting on December 8. The first committee is comprised of representatives from academia, industry, and the non-profit sector, as well as two veteran citizen journalists.

PeoPo Citizen Journalism Self-regulatory Committee will hold regular meetings on a quarterly basis to discuss relevant issues and conduct online discussions in the event of emergencies or urgent issues. At the first meeting, PeoPo staff provided citizen journalist reports that had been accused of violating the platform’s code of ethics in the period from July to November 2016 and explained how they were handled. The five main categories discussed include ‘Business, Advertising, Promotion’, ‘Event Brochures’, ‘Mass Posting’, ‘Abuse’ and ‘Other’.

We hope the establishment of PeoPo Citizen Journalism Self-regulatory Committee will help maintain the high quality of reports on PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform and that citizen journalists and friends will continue to participate in its monitoring.

平台即將邁入十周年前，PeoPo特別邀請各方專業人士，成立「PeoPo公民新聞自律委員會」，並在12月8號召開第一次會議。第一屆的委員邀請了學界代表、業界代表、NPO代表以及兩位資深公民記者參與。

PeoPo公民新聞自律委員會未來每季定期召開會議、討論相關議題，另外因應突發狀況或者是急需討論的議題，會使用線上討論的方式進行。在第一次會議中，PeoPo工作人員報告了2016年7月到11月的公民新聞檢舉暨處理方式。主要分為五大類，包括「商業、廣告、宣傳類」，「活動簡章類」、「大量轉貼類」、「謾罵類」與「其他類」。

藉由成立「PeoPo公民新聞自律委員會」，希望能更確保PeoPo公民新聞平台的報導品質，也希望公民記者朋友能共同參與監督，共同維持PeoPo成為一個優質公民報導的發表平台。
