Teaching Penghu’s musical talent – Beautiful music surrounding Chrysanthemum Island

Boasting breathtaking scenery, Penghu attracts huge numbers of tourists to its shores each year. However, students studying in these outlying areas are faced with a shortage of both teachers and teaching resources. Fortunately, when the Tainan based Hongqiao Missionary Association (虹橋傳道會) witnessed the situation in these far-flung islands, it decided to embark on a journey to provide assistance in fostering musical talent.

The association’s journey began in Niaoyu (鳥嶼), where students were given instruction in playing the ukulele, opening up even more musical opportunities for students on these remote islands. The musical instruction has not only allowed students to gain self-confidence through performances and learn a deeper appreciation of music, but also transformed Penghu into a place simply brimming with music.

澎湖的風景優美，每年吸引大量觀光人潮，但是偏鄉地區的學生，不管在教育上還是各種師資上都面臨不足的狀況，位於台南的虹橋傳道會看見這些現象，便將音樂才藝培養的服務延伸到離島，從鳥嶼國小為第一站，開始了離島烏克麗麗教學輔助的旅程，藉由這些教學讓離島中的離島有更多受音樂教育的機會，藉此培養孩子在表演上的自信心，也能從中感受音樂的美好，讓澎湖成為一個充滿音樂的島嶼。
