Parking places in Hualien prove difficult to find

Hualien County stands in the heart of tourist country and a series of large tourist activities in recent years has helped to stimulate local business development in the area. According to tourist statistics from Hualien County Government, in the period from January to March 2014, near on 2.5 million people visited the area – an increase of 13.47% from last year; unfortunately, the rise of tourists has caused a parking problem in Hualien’s downtown area. In the past, Hualien City Office responded to the problem by providing more parking places for scooters, which only resulted in a reduction of parking places for cars! With the addition of the county government’s very own Champs-Elysees project, Hualien’s downtown parking problem seems set to get progressively worse.

觀光立縣的花蓮，近年舉辦了一連串的重大觀光活動，進一步增加地方產業發展，根據花蓮縣府觀光處統計，103年1至3月份遊客人數累計249萬6,057人次，相較去年以增加13.47%，花蓮市鬧區停車問題也開始出現。過去花蓮市公所，因應機車退出人行道、增設機車停車格，卻造成汽車停車格減少問題，再加上縣府將規劃香榭大道，可能導致花蓮市鬧區停車問題越來越嚴重。
