Doggy business at Ren-Yi Tan Reservoir

The interconnected reservoirs of Ren-Yi Tan and Lantan in Chiayi City are the main source of domestic water and irrigation supply. However, the area has a massive stray dog problem that troubles many local people. Some dog lovers regularly come to feed the dogs, but unfortunately, this has created a vicious cycle that has given rise to continually more stray dogs. There are also some members of the public who visit the area in the hope of finding a puppy to take home and rear. Unfortunately, none of these methods will be able to resolve the stray dog problem, and the citizen reporter is calling on local government to quickly develop a more suitable policy to solve this worsening stray dog issue.

嘉義縣番路鄉仁義潭水庫，與嘉義市蘭潭水庫相互連結，是民生與灌溉的主要水源，這裡風景怡人，但是流浪狗的問題卻相當困擾民眾，有些愛狗人士會固定時間來餵食，但愛心造成惡性循環，越來越多的流浪狗無法可管，卻也有一些市民到湖畔尋找條件好的幼狗，想要帶回家飼養。但這些都不是解決流浪狗的好方法，公民記者呼籲地方政府應該盡快擬定更好的對策才行。
