All-indigenous puppet show brings the house down at International Puppet Theater Festival

Under the tutelage of internationally renowned glove puppetry master Hong Guo- qing (洪國慶), students of Dader International and Commercial Vocational High School (大德工商職業學校) managed to win a standing ovation for their performance of ‘A Bunun Shooting Legend’(布農族射日傳說) on the 8th October at Huwei Puppet Museum (虎尾布袋戲館). Students opened the performance with traditional Bunun dancing followed by puppetry, bringing the house down in a standing ovation. Hong Guo-qing said: ‘This is the first performance of its kind, where everything from music, narration, puppet costumes and their operation have been carried out according to the traditions of the Bunun people. President of Dader International and Commercial Vocational High School, Tu Jin-zhu (涂金助) said: ‘The 87 Bunun students at our school have used after-school time or club time to diligently train for this. Of course nothing would have been possible without the tireless teaching of Hong Guo-qing. I sincerely hope the students can use the development process of the performance to discover their own strengths, and find their own niche in life’. This performance gave traditional puppetry fans a very special cultural banquet, and well deserved the rapturous applause from the audience.

偶戲史上首部全本原民布袋戲 國際偶戲節博得滿堂彩 ( 單車小賢 )

由布袋戲資深大師洪國慶先生指導，大德工商學生擔綱演出的【布農族射日傳說】，10月8日在虎尾布袋戲館登台演出，布農族學生以傳統原民舞蹈展開暖場序幕，隨後的布袋戲表演更贏得滿堂彩，洪國慶指出：「這是布袋戲史上第一齣全本原住民布袋戲，從布偶、操偶、音樂、口白都以布農族傳統來演繹」，大德工商職業學校涂金助校長表示：「大德工商有87位原住民學生，學生運用課餘以及社團時間辛苦練習，能有今天的成果，要感謝洪國慶老師不辭辛勞的教導，希望學生都能適性發展，從過程中去發掘自己的長才，找回自我定位。」這場演出帶給熟悉傳統布袋戲的戲迷，一場不同的文化饗宴，也博得滿場掌聲。
