PeoPo Summer Internship – Students to Reap a Bumper Harvest

The rising trend of citizen journalism has attracted large numbers of students from both media and non-media departments, all of whom hope to take advantage of this years’ PeoPo Summer Internship. The summer internship will give the sixty lucky students fresh new ways to perceive the news, and get in touch with the potent power of the media.

PeoPo has specially designed a comprehensive program for the students, which is aimed at equipping these budding citizen journalists with the A to Z of reporting. The program will teach everything from the working difficulties of reporters, to the skills of unearthing newsworthy topics, as well as providing other practical tools to ensure each student is fully prepared before taking the first steps on the road to becoming a citizen journalist. In addition, students will receive training in pronunciation, and be coached on how to face the camera without trepidation. Seasoned voice-over specialist Hsu Ya-wen will also be on-site to put students through their paces with real SNG practice.

A multi-faceted course will allow each and every intern to reap a rich harvest. After thorough training, students will be divided into groups before being asked to pick out a relevant topic from the week’s news and turn it into a citizen journalist news report.

In just five years, the PeoPo Summer Internship has already developed over five hundred students into citizen journalists, who through these PeoPo internships have stepped out of the campus and into the community at large to care about public issues. Each and every one of these students has been empowered to examine deeply what it takes to be a citizen journalist, and to understand the power a journalist with a vantage point standing outside of the commercial media world commands.

公民新聞風潮興起, 不論是傳播科系或是非傳播科系的同學, 都想趁著暑假前來公視PeoPo實習，60位同學將在公視開啟不一樣的新聞觀點，認識公民新聞的力量。
 
PeoPo 特別為實習學生設計了豐富的課程，認識記者工作的甘苦、學習如何挖掘議題找新聞，也思索自己的公民新聞，該從哪裡開啟第一步。有了想法之後，也要學習充分 的技能。還要多練習口條發音，面對鏡頭不畏懼，教導新聞配音的公視主播，許雅雯老師也現場抽題給同學來個SNG連線考驗。
 
多樣的課程讓實習學生收穫滿滿，之後透過分組老師的帶領，每位實習同學嘗試從周圍生活找議題，將關注的故事拍攝成公民報導。
 
邁入第五年的PeoPo暑期實習營，已經培育出超過五百位的學生公民記者，透過PeoPo實習，同學們跨出校園、關心社區、關注公共議題，也審視做為一名公 民記者不同商業媒體記者，可以發揮的影響力。暑假可以過得很不一樣，參與PeoPo實習營，一起拿起攝影機，呈現出屬於年輕人觀點的公民報導。
