Toucheng railway station undergoes facelift

In recent years, Wai-ao Beach in Toucheng, Yilan, has emerged as the hottest place to spend summer vacations for surfing enthusiasts. However, the facilities at Toucheng Railway Station are anything but adequate, with a rather ramshackle, tumble down appearance. On weekends, waves of tourists flock through the station, and locals are now calling on the central authorities to give the main entrance a facelift. On ordinary days, around the time students get off school, the station can see close on 3 thousand students passing through its gates, all of whom rely on the railway network to commute. The existing facilities are old-fashioned and no longer sufficient to meet the people’s needs. Students who use the station suggested that improvements to the entry and exit would make life a whole lot easier. Toucheng town has slowly transformed into a tourist spot, and buildings nearby have already been given a new lease of life. Locals hope that the plan to refurbish Toucheng Station can be completed as soon as possible, and that the station’s “cosmetic surgery” can give the place a whole new look.

宜蘭頭城外澳海灘已經成為民眾衝浪消暑勝地，但主要的大眾運輸系統「台鐵頭城車站」，因為建築老舊，假日往來車站人潮眾多，當地居民希望中央能改善頭城的 門面。平日上下課時間頭城車站，有近兩三千人的學生出入靠著鐵路通勤，月台等設施老舊不敷使用，學生建議增設後站方便出入。頭城鎮慢慢轉換為觀光發展，車 站周遭歷史建築也修建完成，居民希望能夠盡速規畫整修頭城站，為頭城鎮重要的門面做整形手術。
