Major Traffic Accident on Alishan’s Route 156

On the morning of the 12th of December around 8 AM, a bus full to capacity with ‘Pheonix Ambulance’ volunteers was on its way to the Tsou Tribe’s Culture Park when disaster struck. As the bus approached the first bend at Road 156 on Alishan’s Main Road, as a result of a suspected tire blowout or brake malfunction, the bus violently struck the wall of the tea plantation and skidded 50 meters before hitting an electric pole and coming to an abrupt halt. As a result of the violent collision with the wall, the left side stuck to the tea plantation wall causing the left side of the bus roof to be torn off, leaving carnage of the crash strewn across the accident scene. The tragedy resulted in the immediate death of 3, serious injury of 4 and minor injury of 22.

怵目驚心=阿里山鄉部落車禍(公民記者 鄒公 報導)

一部滿載嘉義縣消防局「鳳凰志工大隊」志工的遊覽車，12月12日上午約8點30分許，由阿里山公路轉進156鄉道，欲前往鄒族文化園區的時候，在第一彎道過彎時，疑似爆胎、煞車失靈或機件故障，車輛猛力撞擊茶園山壁砌石後，向右側滑行約50公尺，再衝撞二支電桿後停住，由於車輛左側(司機側)撞擊後貼著砌石滑行，倒致左側車頂完全掀開，現場血跡斑斑一片狼藉，這起車禍造成三人現場死亡，4人重傷22人輕傷的慘劇。
