Where is home? The life stories of the homeless in Wanhua

文字-A A +A

Around Taipei's bustling Longshan Temple in Wanhua, a familiar scene unfolds: homeless people lay cardboard on the ground, surrounded by bags of life essentials. They observe the constant flow of people, yet they often feel like perpetual outsiders, burdened by unflattering labels from passersby. Unfortunately, people rarely take the time to understand the reasons behind their homelessness.

But being homeless doesn't mean they're destined for a life of dependence. Many homeless people work diligently in jobs like signboard holders, cleaners, and recyclers, all while holding onto their dreams. So, when you encounter the homeless, engage with them, dispel stereotypes, and offer the respect they deserve - you might be pleasantly surprised by the human connection you make!
