The Resurgence of Taichung Fourth Market
Taichung Fourth Market was built in 1932, but in the 1970s, with the establishment of the neighboring Jianguo Market and local population outflow, the market gradually declined and closed. Fortunately, thanks to the joint efforts of many people, the market was listed as a historic building in 2015, before being preserved and reopened in 2021. The market has been transformed into a cultural and creative base providing light food and a variety of other culinary specialties, as well as occasionally holding bazaars and exhibitions.
The revamped Taichung Fourth Market provides the public with a new and radically different market experience. It is hoped that the newly reborn Taichung Fourth Market will become a model for the future regeneration of Taiwan's historic buildings and an example for other cities to follow.
