機車待轉區常被網友嘲諷為「待撞區」。在車流量大的地區，機車停在待轉區常有被後方行駛而來的汽機車撞上的疑慮。此外，有些路口明明沒有設置待轉區的必要，卻因為交通法規統一而被迫設置。因此，近年來有愈來愈多民眾呼籲取消待轉區。
