Citizen journalists highlight the crisis of development in Magang Fishing Village

Protection of the environment and issues about land justice are topics that concern many citizen journalists. Magang Fishing Village, located under the Sandiao Cape Lighthouse in Taiwan, has been facing a crisis of land development in the past few years, which villagers believe poses an existential threat to the unique local marine culture. Several citizen journalists have reported on the issue to convey their concern about the future of Magang.

The fact that so many citizen journalists have covered this issue shows public awareness needs to be raised. On an up note, in the past few years, more people have gradually become aware of Magang’s unique culture and irreplaceable marine ecology through guided tours. Through PeoPo Webcast, we hope to generate even more awareness and support for the village.

環境生態的守護與土地正義的捍衛是不少公民記者關注的議題，位在台灣三貂角燈塔下的馬崗漁村，這幾年面臨土地開發的危機，讓村民憂心特有的海洋文化將不復存在，陸續也有公民記者透過報導關心馬崗的未來。

一個議題能夠有不同的公民記者陸續報導，也代表這是一個需要更多人共同關心的議題，這幾年馬崗透過導覽活動，已經慢慢讓更多人了解它特有的文化以及海洋生態價值，透過PeoPo webcast網路節目的整理與推薦，也希望讓PeoPo的觀眾對馬崗這個小漁村可以有更多認識，進行產生支持的力量。
