The stone culture of Gancheng Community

The community of Gancheng is located in the southwest of Ji'an Township, Hualien County. An agricultural community with a diverse ethnic makeup, the people of Gancheng have a real sense of camaraderie. In 2016, the community utilized Taiwan’s Community Planning Project (社區規劃師駐地輔導計畫) to implement an environmental makeover. Locals decided to use traditional stonewall building methods in addition to wall murals and planters to improve the dilapidated facilities on Ji'an Road. The revamp has increased safety for passersby and enhanced the overall image of the community entrance.

Given that experienced craftsmen are aging and skills not being passed on, in order to promote traditional stone masonry, the community of Gancheng utilized the Cottage Industry Activation Plan which is part of Taiwan’s Community Planning Project to build an outdoor stone masonry experience site, cleverly linking traditional masonry craft with green therapy activities in a DIY miniature stone planter course.

干城社區的砌石文化

干城社區位在花蓮縣吉安鄉西南方，是聚落型態的社區，村民多以務農為主，各族群分散四處，彼此生活融洽。民國105年干城社區透過社區規劃師駐地輔導計畫進行環境清整，利用社區傳統砌石工法，配合牆面彩繪與植栽美化，改善吉安馬路上的破敗設施，不僅增加用路人的安全，更提升了社區門面的整體景觀形象。

有感於熟稔砌石工法的耆老逐漸凋零，及為延續並推廣傳統工藝特色，干城社區結合社區規劃師輔導計畫中的產業優化實驗計畫，建置戶外砌石體驗場地，更巧妙的鏈結砌石工藝與綠色療癒活動，設計出砌石盆栽體驗課程，透過試體驗活動的辦理，讓更多人認識砌石文化。
