PeoPo Talk

PeoPo TalkPeoPo Webcast is an internet program designed by PTS’s media department, including PeoPo Talk with stories from various citizen journalists, important issues of discussion and inviting guests in for hot discussion of these issues.    ‘PeoPo Talk, People Power’ is the rising tide of people power.  It is hoped that through multidimensional discussions people will get a deeper understanding of many topical issues. This week’s ‘PeoPo Talk’ topic under discussion is the expropriation of farmland in Dapu Village, Miaoli.

In order to develop Jhunan Science Park, MiaoLi County government located in central Taiwan, plan to expropriate the farmland in Dapu.  Many local farmers are unwilling to accept the proposed expropriation of their land.  On 9th June, local government officials unexpectedly arrived and used excavators to forcefully take the land, destroying the rice crops on the verge of harvest.

Is the current government expropriation law fair and just?  When the media kept silence, it was left to citizen journalists to cover the story.  Using cyberspace to disseminate the issue, the voice of these farmers was given an opportunity to be heard - unleashing the full force of people power.

為了竹科竹南基地的開發，苗栗縣政府計畫徵收大埔的農地，當地部分農民不願意接受徵收，縣政府竟在6月9日凌晨強制將怪手開進農民即將收成的稻田當中。

台灣的土地徵收制度符合公平正義嗎？當其他媒體噤聲不報導時，公民記者影像記錄透過網路流傳，讓農民的心聲有被聽見的機會，公民報導展現了來自人民的力量。
