Dr. Rednose delivering laughter to sick kids
The joy of music breaks through the silence of the ward, and Dr. Rednose clowns arrive to perform an animated show in front of the kids. In Taiwan, as many as 900,000 kids are hospitalized due to illness each year. The long-term treatment process is physically and mentally exhausting for sick children and parents alike. In the hope of bringing a smile to the faces of sick children, clowns from the Dr. Rednose Association regularly offer performances appropriate to the condition of each sick child.
When the original weekly performances were forced to stop due to the pandemic, the Dr. Rednose Association (紅鼻子關懷小丑協會) changed its strategy and began putting on video performances. During this period, the caring clowns were unable to meet children face-to-face and could only chat in video calls. However, these trying times have helped develop new methods of performing so that now distance is no longer an issue, and kids can enjoy the services of Dr. Rednose regardless of their location.
