Farm Power not Fish

In the wake of Typhoon Morakot, Pingtung county commissioner Cao Qi Hong is promoting a movement to ‘farm energy’. He is looking forward to a future when the high energy consuming agricultural and aquiculture district of Chiatung can transform itself into a green energy producing area. In the future locals could rent their land for the erection of solar panels, and the resultant energy sold to Taiwan Power. Unfortunately this plan is currently facing many difficulties due to an insufficient electrical carrying load, however locals hope to win over Taipower into increasing the electrical load and Pingtung County Government sincerely hope to return to pre-Typhoon Morakot supply within a year.

八八水災之後，屏東縣長曹啟鴻提出「種電」「養電」的產業願景，期待將林邊、佳冬一帶「高耗能」的傳統養殖漁業及農業轉型成太陽能發電的綠能產業，未來農 民只要出租土地架設太陽能板，所產生的太陽能電力就可由台電收購。不過這個計畫目前仍然面臨現有電路承載量不足的瓶頸，需向台電爭取擴大承載量，屏東縣政 府仍在持續努力，希望讓林邊、佳冬受災的民眾，一年內收入能恢復正常。
