Package-free store – a new era in shopping
Located in New Tapei City’s Sanchong District, Unpackaged is the first package-free store in Taiwan to encourage consumers to bring their own containers when making purchases. The owner promotes the concept of buying goods by weight, which not only reduces the use of disposable packaging but also reduces food waste.
The government’s plastic reduction policy that came into effect in July has helped to reduce the use of many kinds of disposable tableware, but the reduction of plastic packaging seems to stop at the marketing strategy. At present, there are package-free environmentally friendly stores in northern, central, and southern Taiwan, but they are still few and far between. Only by starting to change our daily consumption patterns can we drive more businesses to promote package-free shopping methods.
