Community colleges are a key channel for the government to promote a diverse range of learning programs for senior citizens. PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform actively cooperates with several community colleges to educate more people about citizen journalism. Through such courses, PeoPo aims to encourage everyday people to take action and report on community issues. Taipei City Government recently held a special award ceremony for lifelong learning. The winners included Chen Shumin, a teacher of citizen journalism in many community colleges and several other citizen journalists.
Lifelong learning is an important trend in society. Older students bring a depth of life wisdom to citizen journalism and demonstrate the power of voicing out for the benefit of society. Through PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform, we are not only able to read the wonderful reports by such CJs but also feel their passion for learning and concern for the community. Hopefully, this positive energy will spread and encourage more seniors citizens to join the CJ ranks.
