Volunteers lovingly care for high number of seniors living alone in Chiayi

According to statistics, Chiayi County has the highest proportion of elderly people in Taiwan, reaching nearly 20%.  Many of them live alone and require additional care and support from society. Fortunately, Huashan Social Welfare Foundation has many kindhearted volunteers providing long-term care to ensure seniors enjoy better, healthier lives.

Through citizen journalists’ reports, we can witness the love and warmth of society; however, projects that help remove the loneliness of seniors require long-term investment. Hopefully, through such reports, we can inspire more people to join the ranks of volunteers caring for seniors living alone.

根據統計，嘉義縣是平均老年人口比例最高的縣市，達到將近20%，其中又有不少長輩是獨居，需要更多外界的關心與照顧支持。社會上有許多的愛心志工以及長期服務照顧長輩的華山基金會，都在為如何讓長輩活得更好更健康而努力。

透過公民記者的報導，我們感受到社會上的愛心與溫暖，能夠讓這些長輩不孤單，但這些資源需要長期的投入，也希望透過報導能夠啟發更多有能力的人，一起加入照顧獨居長輩的行列。
