Integrating diverse cultures: Rich Southeast Asian flavors in Huaxin Street

Walking into Zhonghe’s Huaxin Street Shopping District, one is struck by the pungent aroma of exotic delicacies filling the air, a distinguishing characteristic that attracts visitors from far and wide. Huaxin Street boasts the broadest selection of Southeast Asian food in Taiwan and is home to a large community of Myanmar-Chinese immigrants who have opened restaurants here. To provide their fellow countrymen with the taste of home, overseas Chinese have brought their own local cuisine, and each eatery on Huaxin Street has its own distinctive flavor. Huaxin Street Shopping District Development Association works behind the scenes to promote the district. In addition to serving as a platform for communication, the Association also organizes celebrations to ensure Myanmar-Chinese can continue their traditional celebrations and introduce the Myanmar culture to more people.

走進位在中和的華新街商圈，陣陣美食香味撲鼻而來，總是會吸引許多人的目光。這裡是全台最多元的南洋料理美食街，聚集了許多緬甸華僑在此定居開店。

為了讓同鄉居民吃到家鄉味，來到這邊的華僑也將自己在當地的拿手料理帶入商圈，而每家的口味也都各有特色。而幕後推手就是商圈發展協會，除了作為中間溝通的平台外，協會也會幫忙舉辦慶祝活動，讓當地的緬甸華僑可以延續家鄉的傳統慶典，讓更多人認識他們的文化。
