Mingshan Academy introduces vulnerable kids to the rhythm of life

Fantastic Taiko performances take place at Mingshan Academy in Zhushan Township, Nantou County, which was established by the Mingshan Care Association. The academy, which mainly recruits elementary and junior high school students from dysfunctional families, serves dinner and tailors classes to individual children’s needs. During the summer vacation, many groups are invited to hold classes at the academy. A big favorite of the kids is Taiko class, which has already put on eleven performances this year.

In a small classroom, the children happily watched a movie reviewing their activities during the 2-month summer vacation while chomping down a tasty slice of cake–a treat that sadly only comes every six months! Although the children are often naughty and disobedient, the teachers say it is all worth it when you hear those two magic words uttered from the heart - “Thank you!”

精彩的太鼓表演是位在南投縣竹山鎮，由明善關懷學會社服團體所成立的「明善學園」，主要收招收家庭功能不健全的國小生及國中生。在學期中提供晚餐，以及志工輔導老師進行個別化的課業輔導。在暑假期間也邀請多個團體到學園舉辦活動，其中最成功的就是太鼓的課程，今年已經有十一場的演出。

一間間小小的教室，孩子們開心的看著自己暑假兩個月來的活動回顧影片，滿足的吃著半年才有一次的蛋糕。雖然孩子很多時候，都很調皮不太聽話，但是當孩子說出一句真心的謝謝時，老師感動表情代表一切都值得了。
