According to an ancient Tsou legend, before families receive good news, the hoot of an owl will always be heard nearby; hence, the owl became a symbolic bearer of good news for the Tsou people. Huashan Social Welfare Foundation, which provides emotional support and practical assistance to disadvantaged seniors living alone in the mountains, recently held a "good-news owl activity."

For the event, a team from the Alishan branch of the Huashan Foundation, which has been caring for seniors of the Tsou tribe for 18 years, arrived at the Seniors Cultural and Entertainment Activity Center in Leyeh Village, where volunteers and community elders were invited to make a good-news owl bonsai.

Due to the vast size of Alishan, the main problem facing seniors living in the mountains is getting out of the house. Huashan Foundation hopes to address this issue through organizing other similar activities and continuing to spread love within the district, ensuring that seniors living in the mountains can enjoy a happy life too.
