Taiwan’s lightning bolts

They can't see, but they can play baseball. To us, they may not move so fast, but in the world of blind baseball, they resemble lightning bolts flashing across the field. This year, Taiwan Lightning Baseball Team, the only foreign team to participate in the 2018 World Cup Blind Baseball Championships, made everyone sit up and take notice.

A total of twenty teams participated in the 2018 Beep Baseball World Series, which was held by the National Beep Baseball Association at Eau Claire Soccer Park - Taiwan has participated in the event almost every year since 1997.

Just like beep soccer, beep baseball is a sound-dependent sport, where players listen to a “beep” emitted by the ball and run with instructions from on-site observers. Beep baseball, which challenges players to put their total trust in those around them, beautifully embodies the courageous sporting spirit of overcoming congenital limitations.

他們看不見，卻打棒球；他們行動不快，卻像閃電一様，在盲人棒球場上劃過一道閃光。他們是來自台灣的閃電盲人棒球隊，也是2018年世界盃盲人棒球錦標賽唯一的外國球隊，令人刮目相看。

世界盃盲人棒球錦標賽由國際盲人棒球協會（National Beep Baseball Association）在美國Eau Claire, Wisconsin的足球公園舉行，共有20隊參加。從1997年起，台灣幾乎每年都報名參賽。

像盲人足球一様，盲人棒球是依靠聲音的運動，球員聼棒球發出的嗶嗶聲，與現場觀察員的指示打球與跑壘。更重要的是，不管勝負如何，台灣閃電隊到美國比賽，不但顯示球員對他人的信任，更展現一種克服先天限制的運動精神。
