Injecting new life into Fangliao via the power of art

Nestled beside the ocean, Pingtung’s Fangliao is not only famous for its seafood and fruit, but also its rich local culture. The region’s charm and unique flavor are well presented at Fangliao Railway Art Village, located at the old railway staff dormitory less than 1km from the train station.

Since its establishment in 2001, Fangliao Railway Art Village has opened an important window of art in the region and invited various artists to take residence in the newly provided studio spaces. At present, there are wood sculptors, printers, calligraphers and various art installations. To attract more people and create a distinctive art space, artists also sell their own handcrafted work. In addition to providing a space for artists to express their creativity, Fangliao Railway Art Village is also promoting the local tourism industry, celebrating the region’s diversity, and raising art awareness with locals.

位於屏東縣的枋寮，是個靠海的城市，不但以海產及水果聞名，其也充滿了在地文化特色氣息。而距離枋寮火車站不到一百公尺的F3枋寮藝術村，就是個呈現枋寮在地特色的地方，他的本體建築是利用火車站老舊員工宿舍整修，使閒置空間再利用。

自2001年藝術村成立後，枋寮開啟了重要的一扇「藝術之窗」，廣邀各類藝術家進駐，目前已有木雕、版畫、書法及裝置藝術等等。而為了吸引更多人，也有藝術家販賣自己手工製作的商品，希望打造有特色的藝術村。F3枋寮藝術村，不僅提供了藝術創作者一個發揮創意的空間，更帶動了枋寮的觀光，也落實了在地多元，活絡了居民對藝術的認識。
