Giant murals – Old community transformed into arts village
Painted by artists from around the globe, a panoply of giant murals adorn the old buildings of Kaohsiung’s Lingya District, infusing the area with a vibrant and unique cultural charm. The novel fusion of eye-catching murals and daily life has transformed the district into a popular must-visit photo stop, providing locals and visitors alike with a veritable feast for the eyes.
Mimi Village, a place ablaze with a profusion of color, is situated near Weiwuying, just a short journey from Kaohsiung MRT Station. Though one particular mural, an enormous 3D bookcase, has been attracting the lion’s share of attention, in all the lanes and alleys of Mimi Village you’ll find an impressive mixture of jaw-dropping murals and engaging stories. But over and above the striking murals and sea of color, perhaps the most impressive thing about the community is the charming old buildings themselves.
