20th Campus Editors-in-Chief Meeting – Sharing citizen journalism experience
On May 11, the editors-in-chief from 14 colleges got together at PTS for the 20th Campus Editors-in-Chief Meeting. Each college took a turn introducing its news production style and experience, as well as sharing campus media operations and showing a 3-minute video report for the intercollegiate competition.
The students also came to the “PeoPo Weekly Review” recording studio, where they got an opportunity to try their hand at anchoring for the day. Empowering students to walk out of the campus and into the community has always been the long-term goal of PeoPo’s campus news centers. Through encouraging students to report on social issues and stories that matter in the community, news stores from the unique perspective of student citizen journalists are beginning to gain far more extensive exposure.
