103-year-old Mrs. He lives in Taoyuan’s Longtan District. During Chinese New Year, Mrs. He’s family continues an ancient tradition originating in Yancheng, northeastern Jiangsu Province, where family members kneel before their elders to convey heartfelt blessings and are given “lucky bags.” Mrs. He indicated that in past generations, during the festive season, the elders of large extended families would give the younger generation “lucky bags” containing not only lucky money in a red envelope but also candy, fruit, and other children’s favorites.

Despite the fact that Mrs. He's children are all in their seventies and eighties themselves, they are no less filial and still carefully take care of their elderly mother’s needs. In this era, it is especially heartwarming to see such a traditional Chinese New Year.
