Eco-friendly milkfish

The Eco-Friendly Aquaculture Center is located in Chiayi Township, the home of milkfish farming in Taiwan. Unlike most fish farms, ponds in the aquaculture center are bordered by rich and vibrant biodiversity. A spokesperson at the farm pointed out that the ponds require a stable ecological balance to produce healthy and tasty fish and prawns. Furthermore, to maintain the optimal environment for fish and prawns, it is necessary to sunbake the pond - before you farm fish, you must first nourish the water; and before nourishing the water, you must first nourish the earth. 

This eco-friendly aquaculture approach to cultivate milkfish uses the power of nature to achieve ecological balance and avoids the use of drugs, ensuring consumer safety and contributing to the sustainable development of aquaculture in Taiwan.

位在嘉義鄉布袋的無毒生態水產育成中心，是合作水產品虱目魚的故鄉。和一般魚塭的景象不同，池邊草相多元生態豐富、生機蓬勃。養殖業者指出，魚塭的生態平衡必需處在一個穩定的狀態，裡面的魚蝦才會健康好吃。而為了維護魚蝦生長環境，魚池是需要曬池，養魚要先養水、養水則是要先養土。

養殖業者以友善環境生態養殖虱目魚，透過自然界的力量 ，達成物種生態的平衡，全程不必施用動物用藥，保障消費者食的安全，也為台灣養殖漁業永續發展，貢獻了一份心力。
