Little helpers spread love through New Year reunion dinner
Nantou County is located in the center of Taiwan. Today, the area faces a number of issues, including an aging population, low fertility rates, many single-parent families, and a generation gap. To address this, The Left Bank Growth Association (社團法人南投縣左岸成長學苑關懷協會) recently held an event in the assembly hall of Zhangxing Elementary School called“Little Helpers Give Love in the Chinese New Year.”The educational event was attended by close to 200 schoolchildren and parents, who jointly cleaned dishes, washed vegetables, cooked food, arranged chairs and set tables, all with the aim of teaching kids about sharing household duties and transforming them into considerate little helpers.
In addition to fostering household skills, the event also provided a stage for the kids to build self-identity and self-confidence through performances. This gathering together in the wintry days at the end of the year to cook up a reunion dinner, foster the traditional attitude of sharing household duties, and promote a positive force in society has been met with a very enthusiastic response.
