Caring individuals brave the rain to provide supplies to flood victims
For the first time in 50 years, Taiwan issued two storm warnings simultaneously, when typhoons Nesat and Haitang pounded the island. Pingtung County was most affected by the typhoons and witnessed serious flooding throughout the region. Thankfully, human benevolence was evident throughout Pingtung in the form of charitable organizations, which braved the rain to access all areas affected by the flooding, providing assistance and camaraderie. Private businesses and the government worked hand-in-hand to protect Pingtung as it waited out the storms, with good Samaritans and businesses providing daily necessities. Volunteers from Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation seamlessly handled operational logistics from behind the scenes, ensuring disaster rations arrived smoothly into the hands of weary residents.
With serious flooding in towns and villages throughout the county, Pingtung Department of Social Welfare stated that anyone affected by the flooding should contact township offices for flood assistance or relocation. In accordance with standard procedures, household registration information should be provided as evidence of residency and photographic evidence of flood damage attached for verification.
