PeoPo Your Shoot – Recording Fuhe Wetland Ecology
PeoPo Your Shoot – Recording Fuhe Wetland Ecology
On June 10, PeoPo’s Your Shoot visited Fuhe Wetland in New Taipei City. The event attracted the participation of more than 90 citizen journalism enthusiasts, who after taking part in a guided tour of the area used the lens to record how the power of civic organizations has helped transform this piece of wetland into a thriving ecology. Fuhe Wetland was originally an abandoned landfill site, but in 2004, Yonghe Community University approached the Water Resources Bureau to lease the land, after which it began tidying up the environment and creating an ecological park. Volunteers from the community university have used the wetland to assist maintaining indigenous plants and animals and carry out biological monitoring work. As maintaining the wetland environment is not easy, volunteers hope that more people will get involved in the project, coming together to jointly conserve this emerald gem in the heart of the city.
