Thanks to the support of Beitou Culture Foundation and Taipei City Department of Economic Development, the city’s first government-sponsored eco-friendly farmers’ market has opened in Beitou’s Fuxing Park, giving market-goers the opportunity to stock up on freshly picked vegetables and interact with local farmers each Saturday afternoon. Beitou Culture Foundation, which has been connecting with local farmers and focusing on the issue of locally produced produce for many years now, said that local farmers continually expressed their wish to have a venue from where they could sell produce and meet with customers face-to-face. The market’s current setup in Fuxing Park is the result of protracted talks with the city government and heralds the city’s first eco-friendly certified farmers market.

Following a specially arranged class at Taiwan National University of the Arts’ Graduate Institute of Arts Administration and Management, in which students were enlisted to help publicize and promote the market, market-goers can now take home a gift by simply using Facebook’s check-in’ feature on arrival at the market. In addition to addressing the needs of local farmers and guaranteeing healthy food to customers, Beitou Eco-friendly Farmer’s Market also provides students with a deeper connection with the local community.
