The flavor of Grandma and Grandpa

On National Grandparents Day (祖父母節), Hungkuang University Department of Child Care (弘光科技大學幼兒保育系) organized “Wonderful Food – Grandparents-Grandchildren Catwalk Activity (食在精彩-祖孫走秀活動)”, where kids got a chance to give thanks to their grandparents. At the event, grandparents and grandchildren strut their stuff on the catwalk wearing a range of creative finery and the grandparents laid on a feast of traditional cuisine. Joyous and harmonious, the scene expressed the essence of familial love and joy.

Organizers said that with the current low birth rate, many grandparents in Taichung coastal region actively share childcare work. In addition to holding parent-child activities throughout the year, the Coast Area Childcare Resource Center (海線托育資源中心) – which provides support services for children up to three years old – also provides community train excursions, a range of picture books and toys to borrow, parenting education, storytelling events and infant activities etc. This allows caregivers to make better use of the resources and services available at the center, improves care, parenting skills and infant hand-eye coordination awareness, and provides great help in all aspects of child development.

Grandparents tend to dote on their grandchildren and are willing to go to hell and back to ensure they make it to the learning center where they can recieve the widest possible range of learning resources, which includes access to a range of teaching aids and picture books to borrow and use at home. Therefore, “Kids’ Thanksgiving Activity” (育孫感恩活動) on Grandparents Day each year is a way to commend excellent gransparents for all their hard work.

阿公阿嬤ㄟ滋味

弘光科技大學幼兒保育系，在祖父母節育孫感恩日，舉辦「食在精彩-祖孫走秀活動」以食材為主題，進行創意裝扮，祖父母與寶貝一同上台走秀，同享天倫之樂，阿公阿嬤也分享傳統美食饗宴，現場溫馨畫面，其樂融融。

承辦單位表示，由於現在少子化，台中海線地區很多祖父母主動分擔子女的育兒工作，海線托育資源中心，包括0到3歲嬰幼兒托育服務諮詢，除了在一年當中所辦的親子活動中，同時辦理社區行動列車活動、圖書、繪本與教玩具借閱、親職教育、說故事活動及嬰幼兒活動等課程，讓照顧者可以多多運用中心的服務資源，提升照顧與教養之技巧，嬰幼兒手、眼、協調認知，各方面發展，有很大的幫助。

阿公阿嬤為「疼孫」、給孫更多方面學習資源，不辭辛勞帶著孫子孫女至中心上課、借教具圖書繪本回家共讀，因此，每年祖父母節都會舉辦「育孫感恩活動」，表揚當年度「優質祖父母」。
