Giant balloon made of used plastic bags highlights overconsumption issue

According to statistics, Taiwan uses around 18 billion plastics bags annually. This figure equates to 782 plastic bags per person, 3 to 4 times that of the country’s European counterparts. In order to raise awareness of this issue, “we are city yeast (都市酵母)” and Spain’s “Basurama” collaborated to raise a creative activity focused around used plastic bags. During the activity, used plastic bags were gathered and transformed into a giant balloon art installation. It is hoped that the activity will help raise awareness to the serious environmental problem caused by used plastic bags.
