Huashan senior citizens revel in the joys of fruit picking

Established close to 8 years, Zhongpu branch of Huashan Social Welfare Foundation takes care of 158 senior citizens who suffer from either a disability, dementia or are without any dependent relatives. Recently, with the support of a local farm, the center organized a strawberry-picking activity for the elderly residents. For many of the pensioners it was not only the first time to taste the delicious sweet and sour flavor of fresh strawberries, but also the first time to make strawberry jam from scratch. Fortunately, with the help of volunteers, this group of golden oldies picked up the knack in no time. After living alone for many years, such activities are no doubt both touching and memorable days for our senior citizens.

華山基金會中埔愛心天使站在地服務即將滿八年，陸續服務158位三失（失依、失能、失智）長輩。最近站方就安排了一場阿公阿嬤採草莓的活動，有在地農場的支持，華山基金會服務的長輩們，初次品嘗到酸酸甜甜的草莓，感覺很新鮮，長輩們也是第一次動手做草莓醬，在義工的協助下，阿公阿媽很快就找出竅門，這對於長年獨居在家的長輩來說，是既感動又懷念的一天。
